Positive Affirmations
Your mind is the most powerfully creative force in the universe.
Positive affirmations is a way to change our thinking and it’s important to know the answer is buried deep within our unconscious minds…
We have seen that affirmations have to be positive. Our subconscious mind, which has no sense of reason or humor, is like a one way street where only one direction is possible. It is positive minded, hence only positive affirmations seem to work. If a negative word is used in affirmations, it does not seem to have any effect. It is as if the subconscious mind cannot “see” the negative word. Thus, if the affirmation is “I am not poor”, it is registered as “I am poor”.
The wording of the affirmations should also be done carefully. If you are tired of the house in which you are living, then saying I hate this house may not get you a new house. Even if you do manage to get a new house, very soon you will start hating the new house too because that’s what you have been affirming! If you want a new house, one of the positive affirmations will be I am now living in a beautiful, large, luxurious house which satisfies all my needs. When you have reached the stage of wanting to help others, to be of service, IT is crucial that your affirmations are focused on all good intentions. There will be days, where we fall off and those become less and less and like magic, in a very short time, your conversation are focused on the positive aspects of any given situation. It is a beautiful place to be, knowing one can always be in control even of their logical mind. This, by no-means indicates an air of weakness or being aloof, rather allows one to stand in a place of observing any given situation and recognizing where I am responsible and owning up to that and resolving and moving on. That is POWER~!!
Affirmations are nothing but self talk. Everyday we enter into a internal dialogue with ourself, whether it be positive or negative. Imagine what it’s like when you are in control of the positive conversations you choose to have, with yourself and others. It’s beneficial to talk about the negatives in our life, so that we gain a clear understanding as to how they have been and continue to be in control. It is crucial that we do focus on the positive as the negative talk will simply become anchored deeper. I would rather anchor the positive more empowering conversations so that I can continue to be of service and help others through their challenging times. The same goes for the blame game that other people like to play. We ourselves are responsible for all the “wrong” things in our life. As long as we refuse to accept responsibility for the same, we cannot change. It all starts with
S E L F. I always believe there are no mistakes, rather lessons in every situation, relationship or circumstance in which we participate. Sometimes, it requires deep digging past our conscious mind (ego) to tap into a deeper part of our awareness. Within, there are many great lessons and answers.
What are your daily thoughts manifesting in your life?
Lets imagine you spend a quiet 20 minutes twice per day saying your positive affirmations, you are feeling good, sure and confident. Suddenly you feel like you hit a road block. All that confidence has quickly rushed by and now you are feeling depressed or sad and anxious. What has happened? This is where it will benefit you to observe the other thoughts you’re thinking throughout the rest of your day? Most likely, those thoughts are the same old conditioned and repetitive thoughts you continue to think. Bringing up old emotions and feelings and shifting your attitude. If there are things in your life that aren’t going the way you would like, I guarantee you are focusing your attention on specific negative thoughts.
When we recite positive affirmations, it is important to understand that the words in which you form can carry some of the power, though, the words have no meaning in and of themselves. For example, we all collectively agree that the word “dog” refers to a canine animal, but really, “dog” is just a sound that we can make with our mouths, not the devoted animal that stands by your side.
“Words are like a finger pointing at the moon. They are not the moon itself.”
~Zen Buddhist
If the power isn’t in the words, where is it?
“The power lies beneath the words, in a deeper level of your mind. This deeper level consists of the five “modalities” (methods of representing reality) that correspond to our five senses: visual (see), auditory (hear), kinesthetic (feel, both textural and emotional), gustatory (taste), and olfactory (smell). Our internal dialogue is called auditory-digital and is a more conceptual modality. Here’s the important point: words merely conjure up one or more of these other levels of thinking. “When I ask you to think of a dog, you translate the written word into a visual image or a picture in your mind, of a dog. Perhaps you hear him barking and maybe even see him running after the ball you throw for him.
It’s this deeper level of thinking that is important for creating positive change in your life. For other people, the “mind chatter” of the internal dialogue is so intense, they aren’t conscious of the other, deeper levels of thought. The “inner vampire” drowns out the subtler, more powerful tools of the mind.
Consider this demonstration of how words relate to the deeper modalities of thought: I’d like to ask you NOT to think of a large, purple elephant… I will give you a couple of seconds to NOT think of that purple elephant now.
You pictured a purple elephant, didn’t you? The reason for this is that your mind has to visualize the purple elephant to relate to the demonstration. (if you genuinely did not see that elephant, it may be that your mind chatter is so great, it literally obscured your visual thought – it was completely out of your conscious awareness).
It is the image that the word triggers that is important in manifesting what you want, not the word itself. When I asked you NOT to picture the elephant, the mind ignores the “intention,” and simply creates the object. The mind doesn’t compute “negatives.” Words like “don’t,” “avoid,” and “not,” are ignored by the mind, and the object is rendered in the imagination clearly. The pictures you generate consciously (but mostly unconsciously) are responsible for how you are creating your life. If you focus on “avoiding” something “bad,” you are really creating an image of that bad thing in your mind, as well, you are focusing your full attention on the negative thought. Since the mind can not hold two opposing thoughts at the same time, I believe it would serve you to think in the positive, don’t you?
Your mind is the most powerfully creative force in the universe ~ it will do everything to create or attract the reality of that image to you. After all, you’re focusing on it so much, you must want it, right?
Your mind is a goal-seeking mechanism, which is already manifesting each and every day.
The most fundamental purpose of your conscious linear mind is to decide what you want. You literally picture something in your mind’s eye, and that picture becomes your “goal-image.” This is working 100% of the time, all day, every day. You are already a powerful master at manifesting, after all, you’ve manifested your entire life, up until now, based exactly on the thoughts you’ve been thinking ~ all in relation to the goal-images you hold in your mind. However, the challenge is, you may be mostly unconscious of your goal-images. Your mind-chatter drowns them out, unaware that you might be focusing on what you don’t want, rather than what you do want. Check in with yourself, as it is possible that you may be focusing on what you are attempting to avoid: another sure-fire way to create or attract it. Since we already know that you are a powerful manifest-er, all you have to do now, is, refocus your thoughts on to that which you want, and keep them off that which you don’t want (or what you are attempting to avoid). This will require you to make a conscious effort in achieving this success. AND IT IS SO WORTH IT!!!
So, while “positive affirmations” will make you feel good while reciting them, they have a greater and more powerful impact on your life when you continue taking action towards your dreams (visions) and goals.
Change your thoughts and you instantly change your life.
Easier said than done! Right? Now, how do you do this?
Get yourself a nice journal that you will enjoy writing in that you will carry with you for two to three weeks. Every time you notice yourself thinking about something you want to avoid, or something you don’t want, write it down. That’s all. Start out with baby steps and be gentle and non-judgmental of yourself. Get curious about your what your own mind thinks, so you can begin to control it rather than it controlling you. After a few weeks of marking down your “don’t want’s,” you will start to be mindful of what your thoughts focus on. Please let the long list be inspiring and empowering to you, as you are now beginning to change your life! It will take only a short time and you will have become much better at becoming conscious of your own thoughts. Soon you will be consciously recognizing and reframingwhat you don’t want (remember, thinking includes visual, auditory, kinesthetic, gustatory, olfactory), into conscious simple acknowledgment of what you do want. Pretty exciting isn’t it?
